2016 Winter Fishing Forecast

The last 4 months of 2016 were awesome! Double digit catches almost every trip! The weather was much warmer than usual. December weather was like late September! Well, the weather pattern has finally changed! January has brought frequent cold fronts, the water temps are in the high 50's to low 60's and the water is starting clean up in most areas to our gin clear conditions.

As we move forward into February and March fishing conditions will be awesome for Redfish, Black Drum and large Sea Trout. You don't have to be on the water early as on most days the bite is mid morning to early afternoon especially after cold fronts. Redfish and Black Drum will be tailing during times of calm conditions and will be eager to eat most anything thrown their way. Winter time fishing is truly awesome!

If you’re reading this forecast and have questions, please do not hesitate to give me a call. I will be happy to answer any questions you have about the Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon. My goal if you decide to book a trip is to make sure that your day is memorable, you get to experience one of the world’s most unique estuaries and of course have a day of tight lines and screaming drags! Let's Get Out On The Water and Bend Some Rods and Stick Some Fish!!

What the Angler should bring:

  • Hat
  • Polarized Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Extra shirt
  • Food & drink desired
  • Winter Time: layer up with clothes that can be removed as the day heats up
